Your full guide to Romantasy Fair 2025
Arriving, Parking and Entering
Romantasy Fair will take place in De Orangerie, Sint Josephstraat 15, 5211 NH ’s-Hertogenbosch. If you are travelling by train, please check NS before starting your journey, as there is some scheduled maintenance around ‘s-Hertogenbosch. The venue is about a 15-minute walk from ’s-Hertogenbosch Central Station. Be sure to check the weather forecast as well, it looks like it will rain! Prefer the bus? Take one to Zuid Willemsvaart, from which it is only a three-minute walk to the venue. Visitors arriving by car will find several paid parking garages nearby. The closest option is the St. Josephstraat garage, which offers a reduced evening rate of €7,50 from 18:00 onwards. Do note, however, that this garage is small and will likely fill quickly, as many of our crew members and vendors will park there too. Other good alternatives are Q-Park Tolbrug and Q-Park St. Jan.
Doors officially open at 19:00. To make sure everyone has time to enter, check their coat, and grab a drink before the activities begin, we may open a little earlier or give priority to visitors with a workshop or book signing starting at 19:30. We kindly ask for your understanding if this is the case.
At the entrance, your ticket will be scanned. Tickets can be shown directly on your phone—just make sure to download the Eventbrite app and load your tickets so that the barcodes are visible, or download your tickets as a PDF from your Eventbrite account. Please be certain to present your EARLY FAIRER or GENERAL FAIRER barcode. Add-on barcodes by themselves will not grant you access, and tickets cannot be purchased at the door.
Once inside, you’ll find a free, manned coat room immediately to your right. You’ll receive a numbered ticket in exchange for your items, which you can hand back at the end of the evening. You may also add items throughout the night—for example, if you’ve brought books to be signed or if you purchase something at the fair that you don’t wish to carry. Please note that only coats and bags with handles can be checked in; loose items cannot. While most vendors will provide bags, we recommend bringing your own tote or plastic bag with handles so you can store items if needed.
After checking your belongings, you’ll find the seating area and bar straight ahead. The open bar runs from 19:00 until midnight and offers soda, beer, and wine. Please enjoy yourself, but drink responsibly.
Changing on Site
It is possible to change outfits upon arrival. In the Game & Reading Lounge on level -1, several room dividers with mirrors will be set up as small changing booths. Please keep in mind that there are no large changing rooms or lockable spaces available. If you need complete privacy, the toilets are your only option. As space is limited—about two to three people can change at a time—we recommend arriving in costume whenever possible to avoid queues.
Floor Activities
Between 19:00 and 20:45, you can enjoy a variety of floor activities: have your hair braided, your face painted, get a temporary Romantasy tattoo, or even a tarot reading. These activities are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and may involve a small fee, payable directly to the artist. Please respect the end time and refrain from joining the queue after 20:45, as we need to clear the floor.
Photo and Video Opportunities
We know you’ll look incredible on Saturday, and of course this deserves to be captured! Until 20:45, the stage will be available for photos and videos. There is a small step up on the right side of the stage, and the backdrop promises to be Instagram-worthy. Please be mindful of others waiting to take photos, and clear the stage promptly at 20:45 so preparations for the Fantasy Ball can begin. Throughout the evening, a Romantasy Fair banner will also be available on the back wall of the dance floor for more photo opportunities.
The Book(ish) Fair
The Book(ish) Fair opens as soon as you enter the venue and will remain open until 23:00, though vendors may begin packing up from 22:00 onwards. Don’t miss the chance to explore the many romantasy-inspired products and artists we’ve brought together. If you plan to purchase a book for one of the signing sessions, please do so in good time at the So Many Pages stand to avoid running late for your slot.
Featured Authors and Book Signings
If you reserved a book signing slot, you may line up about five minutes before your allocated time. Your Eventbrite barcode will be scanned upon entry to the line. Please have the books you want signed with you when you join; if you leave to fetch them later, you will need to return to the end of the queue. After your barcode is scanned, you will receive post-its and a pen to note down the name you want the author to sign to. Please write clearly, in capital letters. You can request multiple post-its if you have several books or wish to use different names. Staff will be present to assist or provide additional post-its if needed.
All visitors line up together for all three authors. While you can choose to skip an author if you wish, this does not mean you will be called forward earlier, so please remain patient and respectful. If you are only interested in one author, simply wait until it is your turn, meet your chosen author, and then exit the area.
Please remember that book signing slots cannot be reserved at the venue. Sign-ups are closed and no longer available. If you had trouble booking earlier, email us before the event—this cannot be arranged on the night itself.
Every book must include a post-it with your name, placed on or near the signing page. Photos and videos are permitted both while in line and with the authors, but only from the front of the table—it is not allowed to step behind the authors’ tables. We understand that many of you will want a personal moment with the authors, but please keep interactions brief to ensure everyone has their chance. You are welcome to have multiple books signed, but please limit photos and do not linger too long. If needed, we may prioritise visitors who have back-to-back activities and are at risk of missing them because of the queue; we ask for your understanding. Rest assured, once you are in line, we guarantee your books will be signed—even if your official slot ends while you are waiting. We are confident we can accommodate everyone smoothly with your patience and cooperation.
The Game & Reading Lounge
Located in the basement, the Game & Reading Lounge will be open all evening. This quieter space features couches, lounge chairs, and tables with board games and puzzles. You are welcome to read, play, or simply relax and connect with other visitors. The lounge also has mirrors and dividers, making it a convenient spot for outfit touch-ups.
Dungeons & Dragons Workshops
Alongside the games and lounge space, beginner-friendly Dungeons & Dragons workshops will be hosted by the Noenoevault. Two large tables will host sessions running side by side. Simply check in with the workshop leaders at your booked time, and they will guide you to your table and explain everything. If you didn’t manage to book earlier, we have added one final workshop with limited spots—check our Eventbrite page if you’d like to join. If you enjoy the experience, you’ll also be able to sign up for updates on future Romantasy-themed D&D events.
The Fated Flames Ball
At 21:00, the Fated Flames Ball begins with a special opening scene and performance lasting about fifteen minutes. To prepare, we will ask you to clear the dance floor. While the venue is spacious, it may still feel crowded with everyone gathered in the main hall. If you prefer to avoid being in the middle of a large crowd, we suggest watching from the seating area, the Book(ish) Fair, or stepping out of the hall until the opening has finished.
We ask that you follow instructions from our team and performers closely, whether that means standing behind a marked line or moving slightly back or aside. Respecting these directions ensures the performance runs smoothly and preserves the magic of the moment.
Immediately after the opening, the Ballroom Dance Workshop will begin on stage. Everyone is welcome—no sign-up or check-in required. Simply make your way to the dance floor and follow along. The workshop lasts around 30 minutes, and you are free to step away earlier if you wish.
Once the workshop concludes, the ball officially begins. The music will first set the scene with classical and fantasy-inspired pieces so you can try out your new choreography and dance as though you’ve stepped into a fairytale. As the night progresses, the music will transition into modern favourites and sing-along hits, carrying us through to midnight when the ball ends.
